Here’s a compelling find for fans of obscure Canadian hard rock: Thundermug’s sophomore effort “Ta-daa!” on the original Axe Records pressing from 1974. This Windsor, Ontario quartet represented the heavier side of the Great White North’s rock scene during the early ’70s, delivering a potent blend of blues-influenced hard rock that sat somewhere between early Sabbath and the emerging pub rock movement. The album showcased the band’s evolution from their debut, with tighter songwriting and a more confident studio presence that would influence the trajectory of Canadian rock in the years to follow.
