Released in 1983 by K-tel Canada, Street Wave is a snapshot of early 80s rock, new wave, and synth-pop, blending international hits with Canadian standouts. The compilation features Billy Joels retro-styled Tell Her About It, Elvis Costellos literate pop gem Everyday I Write the Book, and Nenas Cold War anthem 99 Red Balloons, which topped charts worldwide.

Canadian content is strong throughout, with Loverboys arena-ready Queen of the Broken Hearts, Parachute Clubs activist anthem Rise Up, and Payola$s emotionally charged Never Said I Loved You, co-produced by Mick Ronson. Also included are Rough Trades provocative Crimes of Passion and Burton Cummings heartfelt ballad You Saved My Soul.

K-tels compilations were known for their eclectic curation and mass-market reach, and Street Wave remains a collectible time capsule of 1983s pop-rock landscape.
