Here’s a proper Canadian rock artifact that doesn’t surface nearly often enough Doug and the Slugs’ sophomore effort on their own Ritdong imprint. While the band managed to crack the U.S. market with a few singles, this 1982 release represents them at their most confident and cohesive, riding high after the success of their debut. Doug Bennett’s distinctive vocal approach and the band’s knack for crafting radio-friendly hooks with just enough new wave edge made them genuine stars north of the border, though they remained something of a best-kept secret elsewhere.
