Here’s a fascinating piece of Canadian rock history that doesn’t surface very often. Bob Lambert’s “Knobby’s Lament” represents a unique moment in the late 70s when Canadian artists were finding their voice outside the shadow of their southern neighbors. Lambert, who had been kicking around the Toronto music scene through most of the decade, crafted something special here a collection that seamlessly weaves together heartland rock sensibilities with country-tinged ballads and the kind of melodic pop hooks that were becoming the Canadian trademark.
